About the author:
Ron Hicks is an investigative journalist and award-winning medical writer. He turned his series of articles on cancer, which won the Australian Medical Association’s national press award into a book called Understanding Cancer, which has been revised and updated. The Australian Hospital Association commissioned him to write a history of the Australian health system, which was called Rum Regulation and Riches. He then wrote The Vampire Killer, the true story of Tracey Wigginton, who picked up a man on the street, brutally murdered him and then drank his blood. He also wrote The Unlikely Bushman. Ron was a finalist in the Walkley Awards, the highest awards in Australian journalism, for his investigations of pedophile networks. He worked as a freelance journalist in newspapers, magazines and television until returning to Australia’s only national newspaper The Australian.
